By the Seasons

Where did it all go?  I don't know about you, but I look back on the year in retrospect and some of it feels like yesterday, while other times seem so far away.  It's been full of... memories.  There has been alot of ups and a few downs.  Epic adventures. New fishing spots.  Big fish. little fish.  trips here. Trips there. Trips everywhere.  A film. A car accident.  Epic bugs. Good sponsors.

I'm going to throw a few highlights out there.... by the seasons.

Spring or, Rumspringa

A week long trip with the guys.  Wild nights in the wild woods.  Wood drift boats. Dry flies.  Laughs till it hurt. Sun up to sun down.  Turkeys. Trout.  Big trout. Fishing with the kids.  Oh shit moments when your daughter hooks her biggest fish on the dry fly on 5x.

It all goes fast.  From the start of dry fly season with the Blue-winged olive to the grand finale smorgasbord of drakes, March Browns, Stoneflies and Caddis clouds.

Summer, or Rumspringa part dos

Super secret petting zoo esox, to family trips in SWFLA catching snook and jacks on the beach, racing home, repacking the bag, hitching up the drift boat and heading off to make a film about wood drift boats and cicadas.  lots of fish.  Carp. Bass. Trout.  Repeat for a few weeks. Colorado with my number 1. Burnout.  Too much good all at once.

Fall, or meditation in the woods

Trad archery, new bows, ground stalking deer barefoot style, misses and hits, farm pond fly fishing, not keeping up with the joneses.  cooling off time.  Winter planning.  more esox. grouse hunting.  sxs shotguns and dreaming about bird dogs.

Winter, or Why is there not snow?

Family time.  trying to tie flies.  Hey, let's start a boat project.  New friends, helpfulness, mindfulness, set up 2017.  planning.  lets go fishing.  feeling lazy that I havent fished in a little while.  I want snow to XC ski and take the kids snowboarding. Great sponsors, like Stormy Kromer that send you a Christmas card.  The world is in fact filled with awesome people.  We're here for a minute.  Make a change in yourself today for tomorrow.
